Course Number: NA1000 Course Title: Nurse Aide
Hours: 140 (100 classroom/skills lab hours & 40 clinical hours)
This nursing fundamentals course prepares the student to assess and provide for the basic physical and emotional needs of clients in all arenas of healthcare; prepares the student for the State Certification Examination to become a Certified Nursing Assistant. The clinical portion of the program is an opportunity for students to competently and safely transfer classroom theory into practice with instructor guidance and supervision. This course is required by the Virginia State Board of Nursing for Certified Nursing Assistants.
Program Entrance Requirements:
- High School Diploma, college transcripts, GED, or Eligibility Exam
- No felonies or Barrier Crimes that will prevent Board of Nursing approval to test
- Tuberculosis /PPD test and COVID vaccination
- Hepatitis B vaccination or signed statement declining vaccination
- Current American Red Cross or American Heart Association BLS certification (will be offered during the class for an additional fee if needed)
