Hours: 70 (35 online, 35 classroom/lab)
This course facilitates entry level training for Phlebotomy Technicians or those seeking the medical training necessary to pursue the knowledge and skills necessary to perform in a medical laboratory environment. Through this training, students will gain the confidence and knowledge needed in the art of obtaining blood samples through repeated venipuncture, hands-on practice and instructor feed-back. Students are provided instruction on collecting, transporting, and processing of blood specimens, communication, medical terminology, safety and precautions for blood specimen collection, factors that may affect specimen collection, quality control, professional behaviorism, inflectional control and the legal aspects for the phlebotomy practice.
Program Entrance Requirements:
- High School Diploma or GED
- No felonies
- Tuberculosis /PPD test
- Hepatitis B vaccination or signed statement declining vaccination
- Current American Red Cross or American Heart Association BLS certification (will be offered during the class for an additional fee if needed)

Course Goals:
At the end of this course the student will be able to:
- Pass the NHA Certification Examination to become a Certified Phlebotomist. Exam fee not included in tuition.
- Serve in a variety of laboratory settings.
